ENERTRONIC I Series – The Benchmark for Industrial UPS Performance

For over eighty years, BEINING POWER has focused on one singular mission: ensuring that critical industrial operations never lose power. The ENERTRONIC I series true on-line, double-conversion uninterruptible power supply is the direct result of that engineering heritage. Designed for the world's most demanding environments—including nuclear power stations, petrochemical complexes, offshore platforms, and heavy manufacturing plants—this UPS series sets the standard for reliability, electrical performance, and fault tolerance.

True VFI Performance for Complete Load Isolation

Many power protection devices claim to be industrial-grade, but few meet the strictest classification. The ENERTRONIC I series complies fully with VFI-SS-111 according to IEC and EN 62040-3. VFI stands for Voltage and Frequency Independent, which means the output voltage and frequency are completely regenerated from the DC link, independent of any disturbances on the input side. Whether the utility experiences voltage sags, swells, harmonic distortion, frequency drift, or complete blackout, the connected load sees only a clean, stable, regulated sine wave. This level of isolation is essential for sensitive equipment such as programmable logic controllers, distributed control systems, turbine governors, and medical imaging systems.

Advanced IGBT Rectifier Technology for Grid-Friendly Operation

The front-end rectifier stage of the ENERTRONIC I utilizes insulated gate bipolar transistor technology with pulse width modulation control. Unlike traditional six-pulse or twelve-pulse thyristor rectifiers, which draw highly non-linear currents and pollute the upstream power system, the IGBT rectifier behaves almost like a resistive load. The input power factor reaches 0.99 or higher, and the total harmonic distortion of the input current remains consistently below five percent. This near-unity power factor means reduced cabling and transformer derating, lower installation costs, and full compliance with even the strictest utility harmonic regulations. For facility managers, this translates directly into lower electricity bills and a greener operational footprint.

Exceptional Overload Capacity for Industrial Fault Clearing

Industrial electrical systems are not clean laboratory environments. Short-circuit faults occur on downstream distribution boards, motor control centers, and lighting panels. In such events, the UPS must not simply trip offline. Instead, it must deliver sufficient current to allow downstream protective devices—circuit breakers or fuses—to clear the fault selectively. The ENERTRONIC I series can be configured to deliver up to four times its nominal rated current for a duration of one hundred milliseconds on three-phase outputs. This selective coordination ensures that only the faulty branch is disconnected, while the rest of the industrial process continues without interruption. Without this high overload capability, a single downstream fault could cause the entire UPS to transfer to bypass or shut down, potentially bringing production to a complete halt.

Fully Redundant Parallel Architecture for Maximum Availability

For mission-critical applications where even a few milliseconds of downtime is unacceptable, the ENERTRONIC I supports parallel operation of up to eight identical units. This configuration can be used either for N+1 redundancy, where one additional unit provides backup capacity in case any single module fails, or for capacity expansion to match growing load demands. The parallel control system utilizes decentralized logic, meaning there is no single central controller that represents a point of failure. An active master unit coordinates the parallel system, but if this master fails, a passive master automatically assumes control within a fraction of a second. All communication between parallel units occurs over high-speed fiber optic links, immune to electromagnetic interference. During maintenance, any individual UPS can be isolated and removed from the parallel bus without affecting the remaining units.

Comprehensive Communication and Monitoring Capabilities

Modern industrial facilities rely on centralized supervisory control and data acquisition systems to monitor equipment health and performance. The ENERTRONIC I series is equipped with multiple standard communication interfaces, including RS232 and RS485 ports supporting the widely used MODBUS RTU protocol. An optional Ethernet interface enables connectivity via MODBUS TCP or SNMP for direct integration into building management or network management systems. For legacy industrial automation networks, optional Profibus DP is also available. The front panel features a graphical mimic display with intuitive LED indicators and a backlit LCD screen. Operators can view real-time parameters such as input voltage and frequency, output voltage and frequency, load percentage, battery voltage and current, internal temperature, and historical event logs. Six programmable relay outputs provide dry contact signals for external alarm annunciation, such as mains failure, battery low, bypass active, overload, or general fault.

Designed for Harsh Environments

Industrial UPS units are often installed in non-air-conditioned electrical rooms, substations, or even outdoor enclosures. The ENERTRONIC I series is designed to operate reliably in ambient temperatures from zero to forty degrees Celsius without derating, and can be specified for extended temperature ranges. The printed circuit boards are coated with a protective lacquer to resist dust, humidity, and corrosive atmospheres commonly found in chemical plants and wastewater treatment facilities. The cabinet construction meets IP20 as standard, with higher ingress protection ratings available for dusty or wet environments. For seismic applications, such as nuclear power plants in earthquake-prone regions, the UPS can be supplied with enhanced bracing and seismic qualification documentation.

Sample Applications Across Industries

In a nuclear power plant, the ENERTRONIC I provides clean, uninterrupted power to reactor protection systems, control rod drive mechanisms, and emergency instrumentation. In an oil refinery, it supports the distributed control system, emergency shutdown systems, and fire and gas detection panels. In a petrochemical complex, the UPS ensures that critical analyzers and communication links remain operational during grid disturbances. For offshore drilling platforms, the rugged construction and parallel redundancy offer protection against both electrical faults and the harsh marine environment. Hospitals and medical centers rely on the same technology to power MRI machines, CT scanners, and surgical suites during utility failures.

Global Service and Support

Every ENERTRONIC I UPS is backed by BEINING POWER's global service network, with regional support centers, trained field service engineers, and comprehensive spare parts inventories. Extended warranties, preventive maintenance contracts, and 24/7 remote monitoring services are available to suit the operational requirements of any facility. The product family is fully RoHS compliant and manufactured under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified management systems.

The ENERTRONIC I series is not simply a battery backup. It is an active power conditioning system, a fault-tolerant parallel platform, and a long-term investment in industrial process reliability.
